Using Student-Active Simulations in Lean Education

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Teaching Lean is a challenge. Lean is different enough that simply talking
about it in a lecture is not convincing. The challenge of teaching undergraduate
students at Kettering University has resulted in coursework
improvements that have encouraged hands-on, student-active simulations.
Four principles of applying simulations to coursework have resulted including:
● Practice Lean Principles
● Eliminate Waste
● Quick Cadence Learning Cycles
● Success After Challenge
