Abstract

The limiting crossed magnetic fields in SF/sub 6/ due to E/spl times/B Townsend discharges are evaluated directly from a Monte-Carlo simulation technique. The validity of the effective reduced electric field concept, EREF, is also investigated at the corresponding limiting crossed fields together with the electron mean energies and collision frequencies.
