A Study of Diffusion Flame Attachment and Liftoff

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

This study considers a two-dimensional laminar diffusion flame anchored by a dividing plate in a rectangular channel. The Navier-Stokes, energy, and chemical species equations were solved numerically, using the SIMPLE and ADI schemes. The effect of temperature on fluid properties, boundary conditions, and reactant flow rates on the flame structure is considered. The numerical solution was used to determine quench distances and to compare them with previously determined analytical correlations.
