Abstract
In this paper, we consider a queuing network in which user requests arrive according to a Markovian arrival process. Depending on the type of user requests either the Web server or the database server, attend to these requests. The Web server processes only static page requests and the database server processes only dynamic page requests. All arriving requests are stored in an infinite capacity buffer at the Web server node. There is a buffer of finite capacity at the database server. When the Web server cannot place a request in the buffer of the database server, we say that the Web server is blocked. Assuming a probabilistic feedback mechanism, the model is analyzed using matrixanalytic methods. Some interesting numerical examples are discussed.
