About

Dr. Hayrapetyan’s previous research work was in the theory of partial differential equations and in the integral
geometry. His recent research work is directed to the theoretical investigation of inverse problems and to the
development of numerical methods for solving inverse, nonlinear, and ill-posed problems with applications in
the theory of ground penetrating radars.

Dr. Hayrapetyan’s deep belief is that Mathematics is a corner stone in education in a wide spectrum of
professions. It teaches students to think logically, to organize their thoughts rationally, to simplify
complicated problems, to analyze different situations. He teaches students to understand mathematics and
not memorize recipes of solutions. He tries to make learning mathematics enjoyable and challenging at the
same time, and to convince students that mathematics is not just a collection of formulas and theorems but a
key tool to many practical applications.
