About
Dr. Gandy’s research interests are in the area of Natural Language Processing and big data. Dr. Gandy enjoys inter-disciplinary research and has worked with biostatisticians, physicians, sociolinguists, social media researchers and journalists in her research. Her work tends to fall into two categories: building NLP tools to help medical personnel in their research and using big data and NLP to understand and analyze how socially influential events unfold and are discussed on social media.
