Chen Duan received B.S. degree in vehicle engineering from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, China, in 2011, and M.S. degree in automotive engineering from Kettering University, Flint, MI, USA, in 2013. In 2020, he received his Ph.D. degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, USA. in electrical engineering. From 2013 to 2022, he worked for FEV North America Inc. as a senior engineer. His research interests include hybrid and electric powertrains, battery and battery management systems, power electronics and functional safety. He is a certified automotive functional safety engineer.
