About

Dr. Przyjazny’s research involves the development of new sample preparation procedures for the
determination of trace amounts of organic water pollutants using chromatographic analysis.

Dr. Przyjazny realizes that not all students do well on tests and quizzes and therefore these assessment tools
may not reflect the true level of their knowledge of Chemistry. Consequently, in addition to tests and quizzes
he uses other assignments such as reviews of Chemistry papers, development of strategy to solve a specific
Chemistry problem or preparing an oral presentation on an assigned Chemistry topic. During Chemistry
lectures he tries to refer as much as possible to the laboratory part of the course so that students can see the
connection between theory and experimental work. When teaching theory in Chemistry lectures, he uses
numerous examples of applications of a particular area of Chemistry in real life so students are aware of
relevance of Chemistry in industrial settings, clinical applications, environmental issues and consumer
products.
