About
Dr. Cheng’s research interests are on infinite dimensional boundary control systems. Infinite dimensional
system, arises naturally in real world applications whose dynamics are modeled by partial differential
equations. Consequently, the underlying state space of resulting system is of infinite dimension. Some
important application fields include robotics, acoustic noise control, vibration control in aircrafts and many
more. Boundary control systems is an important class of feedback control system as is it represents the
natural way to implement a control device to the system
Dr. Cheng’s teaching philosophy is to establish a friendly and interactive environment with her students. She
makes it clear from day 1 that she will be available via a variety of channels: after class, office hours,
appointments, online discussion board and private emails. If students need help, Dr. Cheng will be there for
them but they must be a willing active participant.
